So pretty much BigCartel is wack. I will be discontinuing my service with them. Most of the nice option you have to pay for and I can only list like 4 products. Not that I have more then 4 right now but it’s at least nice to have that option. So I venture Mintees a lot for information on prints, tips on how to start a small business and to see what people are doing now a days. And I came across this super site to start more store on. SupaDupa (I’ll have link on the side) is flippin’ awesome. I suggest that if you have plans on opening a store go with them. Way more options. I don’t think it’s free anymore. I was lucky enough to get the discount with they first started in November. But nothing but love for them so far. I’m playing with the settings and everything still but it’s so simple and clean. I love it.

Original design went from 9.5″ to 11″ after some a quick look. Just didn’t feel it was big enough. But after sleeping, thinking, and thinking some more I’m liking these.
I just need to stop being so hard on myself and let the people judge before I toss away ideas.

I still want to add something to the rear of these shirts so they still may not be done.

I don’t usually post shoe info on here but after the whole Jordan Concord thing I took it upon myself to rant a little. Soo, here is another rant for you guys to read.
First off I want to say What is going on CHINA, you’re doing it big this year.
So it’s YOTD (Year of the Dragon) and it seems the shoe industry has taken it upon themselves to monopolize off of this, by creating shoes demonstrating the different ways to present this new Chinese calendar year.
Everyone from Nike to New Balance to even Converse is coming up with nifty little designs cues with dragon accents and so forth to celebrate.
But who has done it better. In all honestly I can say JB (Jordan Brand) has by far one of the best presentations of the theme but with a view of the final product you are buying, it lacks way to much luster for even a side glance of interest. My vote goes towards Lebron James and his China Edition 9 shoes. Kevin Durant KDIV YOTD in a close second and New Balance ML574 coming not to far behind.
This is not a shoe review or anything cause I haven’t been lucky enough to get either of the 3 pair…yet. But more from a designer point of view.

So with this all in mind, I see a perfect opportunity to come up with a shirt to engage in this milestone.
What colors will I use? Well it seems Mr. Jason Petrie had Broken Bank in mind when he designed the Chinas for Lebron because the colors are so close to my logo. So we’ll start there and see where my pen and or computer lead me.
Oh yeah China let me know if you can take a personal request and make it Year Of The Pig again…

Motivation

Well as some of you may know, I do have a job other then being on the internet all the time. It actually consumes most of my day, away from the house and family. But I do get breaks where I get let my mind loose and relax a little bit. That’s the time I use to think of designs and what not.
Today being no different, with a extra table spoon of stress from other people who act like they don’t know how to do their own job.
Anyway, I get a text from the wife and it’s a pitures of my 6 month old little boy.

And I stop for a second.

And it hits me.

As long as I’m sitting here at this deadend job slaving and getting bossed around by other people, I’m going to be missing out on my son growing up.
Not getting a chance to play with him at the park except for my days off. And I already spend most of the time running around trying to do other things I didn’t get to do because I was work. And it just motivated me even more to push hard on this line I’m doing.
It just makes all the stress all worth it cause I know in the end there will be no more.

This is my reality check. No more BS. Hustle HARD!

I still have to make him a shirt. Me and him at the mall should be a killer combo…

Alright here is a break down of whats going on. I usually don’t do pre orders because I like to wait and see what the shirts are going to look like first. But these shirts are going to be DTG which works as what you see is what you get. Don’t have to worry about human error or mistakes which is perfect. It’s a little more costly but helps me more with inventory cause I can do print to order.

Adventures to say the least. After long debate, thinking, talking with the wife and parents I think I have come to a final decision. Some of you may be wondering what the heck is this guy talking about. Well let me break it down like this.
Had an idea for a shirt. The initial idea was to make a design of a women lower-chest to upper eye level with a bra on and some money stashed in it. You know how older ladies usually store the dollar bills when they don’t carry their purse. And there would be a red bar over her eyes that says Legal Tender. But then I thought to myself, I would never wear that shirt because for the most part people would find it disrespectful. Plus I don’t really see myself walking around the house with my daughter looking at me, with some tatas on a shirt. So I took a couple of steps backwards to “cleaned” the design up. But the base of the design just wasn’t getting the point across like I wanted. Then it hit me.

Pretty random yes I know but wait for it. The whole idea between the shirt was to mix money and women. Not saying they go together but they do love to spend it. Also I was listening to the radio one day and that old track by Bobby Brown “Tenderoni” came on. And it all just came together after that.

But then I started working on the shirt and my wife saw me on the computer and got a little pissed off. And I was thinking to myself “what did I do now…” But low and behold she was upset about the shirt. So I asked her does she even know what it means or was she just looking at the picture of the girl. And automatically any shirt that has a women on it is disrespectful and degrading?? Does it really work like this in a women’s’ mind??
I had already thought it out. I picked a photo that was not to vulgar or disrespectful. And it was after she turned 18 (hints to the Legal part), and rather than just using any old dirty girl off the web or taking a pictures of a female who I already knew, which would only cause my headaches, I went with a girl who is already well known, although misunderstood and misguided, and seems to be a decent person (hints to the Tender). I even did her a favor by not using on of her overly exposed photos.
So in the end although I have heard the shirt isn’t a good idea from family, I as a artist and designer, had to make my own decision. And if in the end it turns right around and bites me, I can at least say I did it in the most respectful way I could think of while still being creative. Last thing you want to do is try and put a cap on creativity. Yes you can water it down, make it more appealing to the masses but then it starts becoming more of what other people want to see and not what you see in your work.

And with that all being said Broken Bank Clothing is now taking Pre-Orders for what may be one of my most risky shirts

Legal Tender. Now that you know how the shirt came about maybe you’ll understand where my mind was when I created it. And if not at least you can say you have a cool shirt.

This is not the final design but pretty close.

They’ll only be offered on White, Black and Heather Grey Alstyle 1301 shirts. Best shirts I have printed on.

So did you get your Concords? Jeeze this whole thing was straight Sparta MADNESS. I even got caught up in it. At first I was on the fence about getting them but after more and more pictures I figured hey might as well. There were one of my fav. back in the day that I never had a chance to purchase. Well looks like I yet again won’t have the chance. Well at least no time soon until they restock. But what bugged me out was all the little kids, bothers and sisters and Hypebeast alike all in line circling buildings for these. It’s a GR people no need for that kind of behavior. And then shootings, muggings and stabbings. You would think were were back in the 90′s when Starter jackets came out and people were getting robbed for them.
I tried to get mine online cause I don’t have time for all that and plus I have to watch my kids. But even that was an impossible task. Almost every site crashed on me. All over some Icey Soles to resell. Funny how some shoes that retail @ $180 will end up on eBay for $400 within minutes after purchase.
Well now that you have that little bit of info you can understand how the “For the Love of money…” shirt came about. It’s actually a Bible verse 1 Timothy 6:10 For the love of money is the root of all evil. And man is that true. The things people do for it. So after the events of last night I thought I would make a shirt to show my pain.

I’m going to get some for my little boy though and make a Onsie for him with the print LOL

But them Christmas Lebron 9 will be mine…

Yet another doodle to hit Cotton…something for the sneakerheads

This is another little guy I’m working on. Don’t know if this is going to be on the Spring line or what. Just getting all my ideas out of my head while I still have fingers and eyes that work.

Here is a edit I made with a good idea from someone on a car forum I frequently post on. Originally it was just going to be the kid and the money bag with text “For the LOVE of money…” under. But with the recent release of the Jordan XI Concords, eBay resellers & Finish Line, Eastbay and even Nike.com crashing due to everyone and there lizard trying to cop a pair of shoes (including myself with no luck). I thought it would be refreshing to add some touches.
I have yet to make a shirt that goes with any sort of shoe. Figured now would be a great chance.
Tell me what you think. This is not the final product but this is the platform.

And here are some mock up. With Edit on Box style. Need to clean up the thought bubble but I think this is ready for the printing line.

Wanted to introduce you guys to 50. He is a character I’m working on for Christmas…
Hopefully. I need to get a face on him and put it on Illustrator but with computer issues lumming in the background a delay is always at my side.
But instead of speaking like it won’t happen I’m going to make plans for it to happen. Be ready for this to be printed on red shirts, for the Christmas seaon. Also because I’m intecapating everyone rocking either their Kobe Grinches, Lebron Christmas, Kd’s and whatever else green and red shoes released previously or in the near future with this shirt.
I’ll have a mock up soon. Just wanted to let y’all know I ain’t sleepin’!
